Tiffany Fox

 

Tiffany Fox is Director of External Relations for the UC San Diego Center for Epigenomics. For nearly two decades, she has helped researchers tell their research stories through compelling articles, videos, social media and public presentations.

Prior to her appointment with C4E, she was the Director of Communications for the UC San Diego Department of Surgery and Moores Cancer Center, and served as senior writer for the UC San Diego Qualcomm Institute, an organized research unit spanning 40 distinct academic disciplines. Fox has been honored with a number of awards for her work from Ragan, the San Diego Press Club and Toastmasters International.

For several years, Fox co-taught Science Writing 1 for UC San Diego Extension. Fox also developed a number of research communications training modules for various departments and programs at UC San Diego, offering them to hundreds of undergraduates and graduate students across a wide range of disciplines. She oversaw a weekly newsletter on research communications, Research Refined, is a past Vice President of the San Diego Science Writers Association, has served on many panels related to science communication and has also enjoyed performing science-related spoken word.

Prior to coming to UC San Diego, Fox was a reporter and columnist for the San Diego Union-Tribune for 10 years, where she wrote primarily about the arts. She remains a part-time freelance journalist and has written about a multitude of topics spanning science, engineering, technology and the arts. Fox has also traveled to five continents, is a certified yoga teacher, served in Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer and is a mother of two.
